If you have a garden, and you have not yet done much to protect it from trespassers, then you might want to consider garden fencing. Of course, trespassers could mean anything from children using your garden as a short cut or detour, or the four-legged variety who seem to may found a great place to relieve themselves.

At any rate, garden fencing, whether for security or for decorative purposes, is a great idea because it encloses your property in a way that lets everyone know.

There are different ways to fence in your garden and there are different materials you can choose from. You can have a solid fence or one with gaps in it. The decision should be based not just on aesthetics, but also on space. How much garden do you have to fence in. If it is a narrow or small garden, a solid fence would look too heavy and over the top. You should select a picket fence-type or a wrought iron fence which would showcase your garden without overpowering the space. Also, a solid fence made of stones of wood could eat up precious garden space, space you really don’t have enough of.

A large garden would look great with a solid fence or a picket fence. You could even have a heavy stone fence that could weather any calamity or storm. You even have the advantage of choosing any color you want for your fence since you do not have to worry about balance and space.

Another aspect you should consider with garden fencing is maintenance. Using an iron-based fence, make sure that it is properly rust-proofed so that you don’t have to have it repaired every year. Using cement blocks could also be a choice if you prefer a high fence, and the maintenance would be very easy. You could even plant a growing vine plant that would use the fence as its support.

Any plans to put up a garden fence along the perimeter of your house must always have the knowledge of the local authorities in case there are zoning regulations as to height and material used. You should also makes sure that when you put up your fence, you follow your property boundary because it could be a major problem and cost if you were to bring it down again because of boundary issues.
